Usman and John are smiling because a) they're sitting, b) they saw so much cool stuff at the Faire, c) they met so many excellent people, and d) they won an Editor's Choice award for the Rail-O-Graph.

Usman and I were very proud to receive a blue ribbon at Maker Faire for the project! Thank you all for coming to the talks. We'll be posting the link to the code and photos soon.

Rail-O-Graph preview

Here's a look at the Rail-O-Graph train in progress. There are some small updates in the works, but this is a 90% final design. From front-to-back you can see the universal motor, Arduino + ScrewShield + Adafruit MotorShield stack (this is the brains and muscle of the operation), tapper/key housing, and hall effect sensor.

The Railographic Apparatus (or Rail-O-Graph): An Electromechanical Method and Device for Transmitting and Receiving Messages

The Rail-O-Graph is an Arduino-driven train that powers a chat room by physically tapping messages (a la Morse code) to connect two terminals.
